The password came off tournament.com this morning at 09:16 UTC. Anyone can sign up, drop into a DOOM 2 deathmatch and play for points, and the cash challenges are open for anyone who wants to put money on a duel. Welcome in.
The first day, by the numbers
Since the door opened:
- 872 new accounts, from Nigeria, the Philippines, India, Indonesia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands and beyond
- 8,400+ kills between human players across 245 maps fought over
- 63 game servers online in 63 regions, so there is a room near you wherever you are
- 56 sponsored HIT races won, with 56,000 points paid out to the top three in each
- 30 cash challenges issued, the first five already settled
- 421 players have connected their X account
The player to beat
Aleatory is having a day: over 1,300 kills since launch, top of the daily points table, four maps won, and a 90% hit rate with the super shotgun that had us double-checking our own maths (it is legit, we looked). SolarViper689, TitanNinja718, KobraBoy and vvdx are the rest of the top five and none of them are far behind.
How the points work, in one breath
Every point is worth one cent. In PPK rooms every kill takes points off the player you killed. Frag races cost 10 or 100 points to enter and the pot goes to the top three. Sponsored HIT races run every hour on the eight home servers, cost nothing, and pay 1,000 points to the podium. You get 100 points for signing up and verifying a phone, 50 for connecting X, and 10 for your first post each day.
